2023 Social Media Trend Predictions

 

If there’s one thing we know about the social media landscape, it’s that it is always changing.

What worked for your social media strategy in 2022 may not work the same for you in 2023.

As our social media grows and evolves, we need to grow and evolve right along with it. So what can we expect to see in the social media world in 2023? Based on what I’ve been reading and seeing - I’m sharing a few of my predictions to help with your social media planning this year!


 

Short-form video will continue its reign as the content of choice.

 

It’s nothing new. Video content on social performs the best and is often the most engaging social media content. (Yeah, you know you’ve been watching those Reels!)

Vlog-style reels with voiceovers (especially on Tik Tok and Instagram) are a great way for you to create original content and speak directly to your community. Focus on less text and shorter captions and use your voice to speak what you would have written in your caption out loud!

This can sound scary to those that haven’t experimented much with video - but trust me when I say simple is key here!

 
 

 

There will be a shift to more community-led content.

 

Social media is called “social” for a reason. Think of social media as a conversation that you’re having with someone you just met. If the conversation is one sided and you spend all of the time talking about yourself, the other person is going to quickly lose interest and walk away. On the other hand, if you engage in a real conversation, establish a dialogue, and ask questions, you can create a lasting impact and people will want to come back for more.

The Close Friends and Subscription features on Instagram are a great way for you to not only establish a deeper connection to a smaller, more tailored group of people, but also - bonus! -  gives you a chance to monetize your account for exclusive content.  


 

Authenticity will be valued more than perfection.

 

Filters are out. (Yes, really.) We want to see your real face! I’ve always talked about the importance of being yourself in your business and now more than ever I believe you will see a rise in your social media engagement if you show up every day as yourself.

People want to see who you are, discover your beliefs, and hear what you have to say. So tell them.  Be honest and transparent about who you are and if the vulnerability nerves kick in, just remember that no one is perfect. When you show up each time as you, your community will appreciate your relatability.
